What is opBNB?
opBNB is BNB Chain’s Layer 2 scaling solution — an Optimistic Rollup built on the OP Stack. Transactions execute off-chain via sequencers, with BSC as the settlement layer. A 7-day fraud proof period secures withdrawals back to BSC. Your BNB works natively on both chains.

The 7-Day Withdrawal Lock
Moving funds FROM opBNB back TO BSC takes 7 days — a security requirement of Optimistic Rollups, not optional. Your funds are locked and inaccessible during this period.
Mitigations:
- Only bridge what you plan to actively use on opBNB
- Keep emergency capital on BSC
- Check if your CEX supports direct opBNB withdrawals (Binance and OKX have offered this — verify current availability before relying on it)
